Catalog size with JPG's is huge!

Hey guys,

I created a new catalog with Media Pro and added 30.000 images.. They are all jpg's between 3-7 mb.

I used the following settings with thumbnails and previews:

Thumbnail size: 160
Quality: high

Media preview size: 1920
Quality: high

The catalog size turned out to be over 30GB what seems crazy to me because when I do the same thing with DNG preview's it's only 5 GB or so..

What could be the reason my catalog size is so huge?

  it seems that you produced additional pictures that have to be stored inside the catalogue instead a let MP do the joy by it's defaults and use the standard preview settings...
  
  standard: 30.000 x 0,1 MB = 3GB
  High-resultion and 1920 px approx 30.000 * 1 MB = 30 GB
  
  MP is more a DAM than an editor ...
