C1 Pro Memory Requirements? 150% CPU Out of Control?

I have a dual 2.0 G5, OS 10.4.6, C1 3.7.4, Having Major crashes both on Capture 1 and on my Finder. I can't even force quit. I have 3.5Gb of RAM and processing files takes 150% CPU according to Activity Monitor. Is this right? Seems like a lot of Processing Power, MY FANS DON'T even come on. I've performed Large photoshop tasks with 1 GB image size that take less CPU power than C1. Even while working on the file in photoshop my fans are full blast. Is there something wrong with my program? Is 150% CPU use while processing in C1 normal? Why aren't my fans coming on? Why does my C1 crash, why does it cause my finder to crash forcing me to restart manually? I have 1,550 images to process by tomorrow! Why does tonight suck?
