Moving areas of the main window

Right now my thumbnails are along the bottom of the main window, below the preview area. How do I move them to the left side of the screen?

Can all the main window components be moved around? If so, how?

    Is there a list of keyboard short cuts somewhere in the Online Help? If so, I haven't found it yet.
