What function does the "Hide Distorted Areas" serve? (Found in Lens Correction-Lens)
Why is always checked even after cmd-r is used?

    It means it does not show the area outside the selected picture area that only holds picture data. Without that you will have "empty" spots around the image. You can develop it with them and then do content aware fill with Photoshop for example.
