I will definitely reinstall C1. This is what I have determined so far. Crashing is a result of corrupted image preferences in capture one settings. This is how I know this. Lets say you have a session of 500 images. As you know there is a .plist, .preview, .thumbnail preference with every image. If I quit capture 1, then double click on the session the thumbnails begin to load. I can scroll down as the images load, then all of a sudden Image#___ will show no preview. This is when I get a crash, both in the program, but more worriesome in the finder. The image that doesn't load has corrupted preferences.
I also know this because when I went to back-up the session to another drive, the copying stopped with a message saying that image#__.plist or image#__.preview was not able to be read or written. This image number coincided with the thumbnail preview that refused to load causing a crash.
So to fix this I threw away my Capture One Settings under Captures, double clicked on the .session and reloaded new thumbnails/previews. No more crashing.
Downside, you better have some time to spare while the image thumbnails load and hope that you have a grey card for every new shot because color balances will be gone.
This puzzles me. The corrupted preferences are completely random as far as I can tell and they are so powerfully corrupted that I have to physically turn off my computer to restart (no force quit in the finder, because the finder crashes)
After my previews finally reload I will toy around with C1 and see if throwing away the preferences is a sure fix, or if I can instigate a crash. Sounds fun huh?
