first post...issues with captureone pro installer
do you guys realize your installer has a serious fault? it overwrites the mac osx "Adobe RGB (1998)" profile with a completely different one.
i'm a systems administrator at a very high profile company. our digital print production director invited calmut to demo a hardware solution that required captureone software be installed.
in managed environments, we snapshoot/package/push all software. there are some issues with the captureone pro installer. first, it overwrites the mac osx "Adobe RGB (1998)" profile with a same named profile that has different values. second, the captureone application has imbedded within itself another copy of the "Adobe RGB (1998)" profile. there's a third copy floating around as well. all three of these profiles, despite being different, show up with the same name in the captureone pro application profile menu.
the calumet "tech" (i use the term loosely here) was of no help. he appeared clueless when i pointed out the profile issue(s). "no problem, it's exactly the same profile" was his response...he repeated the mantra after i showed the clear differences in the profiles using colorsync utility.
i have packaged the installer so it does not overwrite osx' profile. this protects our systems from damage due to the captureone installer. of course there is still the concern about how captureone pro displays multiple instances of a profile in a menu without giving users a clue which instance they are selecting.
ps, why embed a pre-existing profile within the application bundle, AND overwrite the mac osx instance of the profile? this doesn't instill a lot of confidence in your software.
