Alter exposure in process recipe
Hello,
I'm a little new to Capture One. When I send my photos off for printing they're routinely 1/2 stop too dark. Is there a way to add a process recipe that would add 1/2 stop of exposure upon export?

When you say they are too dark, how are you judging that? By the darkness of the actual printed version? Perhaps your monitor is set too bright? Do you need to calibrate your monitor so that the on-screen version looks like the printed version? Or do you mean that the output file (TIFF, JPG etc) looks darker on screen than the adjusted raw? What colour space is the output file - sRGB, Adobe RGB, etc? Or are you printing direct from Capture One.
Answering those sort of issues is likely to be a better option than adding 1/2 a stop of exposure on export.

I'm judging the printed photo vs the image displayed on the monitor (after calibrating the monitor). if i reduce the brightness on the monitor, i need to really crank it down (25% or less) and it still doesn't look quite right. however, turning the exposure down by .5-.7 stops is a perfect match for the printed photo. colorspace = adobe RGB

Bring the exported photo back in to Capture One and compare it to the original. My guess is that it will be the same exposure and that your problem is somewhere in the printing process, not in Capture One exporting.

the export is fine. It just seemed like the easiest solution was a process recipe that adds 1/2 stop of exposure to compensate. anyone know if that's possible?

No that is not possible. Why not try and figure out the actual problem though?

Any advice on doing that? I have a calibrated monitor and am using a good printing service (white house custom colour).
