New Lens Profile for Sony alpha

    Probably not.

Unless a lens in some way can identify itself to the camera (manual lenses cannot usually do that) there is no way to assess which lens is in use when a shot is taken.

Apart from that I am not quite sure what you would want from a Lensbaby "profile".

I thought the whole point about such lenses was that they were odd and quirky and one would use them for creating "different" images  - images for which a standardising "profile", even if definable, would not normally apply.

Probably I did not make my self clear

I want to be able to tether (I use a cable fromtether tools) from my camera to the computer (using Capture One)  When I use a Lensbaby Composer Pro paired with the EDGE 80 in my Sony alpha a7iii.

So far I have not been able to do that. I take the shot and then the photo does not transfer to the computer. The same hapens when I use a Lomography Lens called Petzvall 55 mm F/1.7.

    Both are manual lenses.

    Thanks,

    Raul

So you are saying that the Sony with a manual lens fitted does not create a file if shooting tethered?

Presumably it does capture a file if shooting with a connected, non-manual lens?

Are you using what I would call "Full tethering" with all controls that can be controlled being applied in Capture One? Or are you using the "Hot Folder" option and making use of the internal controls and processing within the camera?

Yes that is exactly what I am saying. If I disconnect the cable from my Sony the files are created in camera with no problem.
I am not sure what you mean with full tethering nor “Hot Folder” please explain

I don't think it has anything to do with the lenses. Have you set the USB connection to PC remote control in the settings menu of the camera (which model)?

Yes I have. Tu put it more simple if I change the lens with a Sony g master it starts tethering normally. My model is Sony a7iii

There are 2 options for C1 that might be referred to as "tethering".

The primary tethering option is to have the computer and Capture One take full control of the camera sensor and controls in such a way that the camera (in most cases but with a few alternatives in very recent times) does nothing at all except act as an interface between the sensor and Capture One.

If shooting to a "Hot Folder" you would have the camera doing all of the work and delivering the files it creates to a designated folder on the computer storage that Capture One has been set up to monitor for incoming files.

As a result Capture One can discover the files and provided instant access for editing. HOWEVER, it is not controlling how the files are taken not the storage location of the files not the naming convention for the files.

I don't have any relevant Sony equipment so I have no way to check what I am about to suggest.

My Canon equipment will, fully tethered, check whether AF Or any other shot taking requirement) has been achieved and if not any attempts to take the shot will be disallowed. This is also the case when NOT tethered iirc, though it may be possible to override the defaults.

Is it possible you have something similar happening in that when using a fully manual lens there will be no AF possible AND great potential for any exposure control features that require at least some light to operate, might be rendered inactive if the required f-stop setting for the manual lens has been applied but does not leave enough light for the camera system to run its internal processes successfully?

I just tested this  with my camera (Sony A7RIII) and an adapted full manual lens (Voigtländer VM mount). It works perfectly, I can trigger the shot in Capture One and also set parameters like ISO, white balance and exposure time from the software.

So I assume that it is probably the lenses or the Lensbaby Composer Pro (what does it do) after all.
