(The software is NOT running when I'm trying to uninstall it, today i haven't opened C1 yet.)

Why do you want to uninstall the previous version 22, before you install the updated one? I never do, and I have been using Capture One since version 4.1. It can just install it over the top.

    Hi,

because I was told in the past that with C1 you cannot just update the SW like you do with any other SW, with either automatic updates or by clicking some Update button, but you have to download the whole software and delete the previous version before that.

Do you deactivate your license before updating, i.e. before installing the new version over the top? (I'm asking because I never found another way of updating than downloading the whole SW, which normally requires inserting your license key, and I don't want my license key to be used twice...)

Still, I should be able to uninstall the software from my PC, for whatever reason, right? :)

    Thanks.

Hi, I've now downloaded C1 22 version 15.4.2. and installed it on top of 15.4.0.16.
I will solve the problem of not being able to uninstall C1 later, if it persists. :)
    Thanks.

You are partly right. There are no automatic updates, and you do download the whole package again. But despite it sometimes being recommended to uninstall first, it generally works perfectly well to just install the update over the top of the existing installation. No deactivation of the licence is then needed - in my experience it just works!

If you are installing on the same computer, you are not using up activations. The three (or however many your licence specifies) just means that you can only have three active installations at once. You are not using up a lifetime supply of activations, and as you seem to realise you can deactivate a computer if you want to free up an activation to use elsewhere.

I agree that you should be able to uninstall it from your PC if you want. I used to use Capture One on Windows a long time ago, but I have been on Macs for the last 10 years or so. I am aware that sometimes Windows users seem to find more obstacles in this kind of thing, but the inner workings of that are now a bit of a mystery to me!

I hope that works OK for you. No reason why it shouldn't, I think.

Just to back up/confirm Ian's response, using Windows I have never uninstalled C1, just simply updated to the current version and never had any problems.
