Found it, set to USB Cable connection type in the Connections settings and was able to use the Apple Image importer.

Also not recognised in the default Capture App, bit strange,

Hello Ian thanks for info appreciated. The camera is not visible in finder either?

Ok, tethered shooting not supported but how about retrieving images from the camera?Looks like the camera is not recognised on the MacBook Pro

3. No valid collection selected. Cannot Import into currently selected collection.

Thanks for your prompt response. I was selected to something different called 'capture one folder or something' I did change it to a session folder and now it works. Maybe it was wrong in the first...
