I suspect that what will solve the issue is a completely fresh installation rather than an update.

Paul I've now checked and repaired my disk permissions but nothing seemed directly connected to C1. My next step is to uninstall Capture 1, reinstall, and tell it I am a new user.

Thanks Ian! That is a great idea. I didn't have to do that as the download time when from vacillating between 1-2 hours to 15 minutes. I am now up and running.
