SOLVED: the problem was that in the C1 database there was information related to images that had been removed from the file system (i suppose removed by hand and not using the C1 ui).How i fixed it...

I also noticed that: the dialog box appears and remains active even after some operations such as 'automatic adjustment' .... it doesn't always happen though ...
