Thanks for your input. I now have good previews thanks to your tip but I still have a problem with the thumbnailimages - they look very soft. Is there any way of improving the qaulity of these?

No response I'm afraid. I have gone back to an old computer which has version 4.1.1 to create my web galleries as this is something I use for a lot of jobs and this version produces good web pages....
