Seems strange that I would be able to control everything on the camera but not be able to receive images, does Capture One purposely disable newer cameras to force people to update?

No, I checked that, no Canon EOS Utility installed. It's weird because I have full tether control to change settings, I just can't get the files to write to the computer, with or without a card in ...
