ANSWER
Things you should pay attention to before copying and applying adjustments
In the Adjustments Clipboard, the Autoselect feature determines which adjustments will be copied to the clipboard once Copy Adjustments is pressed. This can be controlled by clicking on the Action menu (...) icon and selecting:
- Autoselect -> Adjusted for copying all adjustments
- Autoselect -> Adjusted except Composition for copying all adjustments except Crop, Rotation, and Keystone correction settings
- Autoselect -> None to turn the Autoselect feature off
NOTE: The default option is set to Adjusted except Composition in Capture One 12.
Copying adjustments made with a single tool
There are instances when you need to copy the adjustments from a particular tool to other images in your Session/Catalog. Follow the steps below to copying adjustment from a chosen tool.
- Press the Edit Selected Variants icon.
- Select the image that you want to copy the adjustment from in the browser (the thumbnail will have a thick white border).
- Now select the image thumbnails that you want to apply the adjustment to (the thumbnail(s) will have a thin white border in the browser). Hold Cmd/Ctrl (Windows/macOS) while selecting images.
- Press the small double-ended arrow icon on a chosen tool. A dialog box will appear.
- Press Apply at the bottom of the dialog box. The adjustment will be applied to the selected images.
Copying adjustments made with several tools
1. Both Copy Adjustments and Apply Adjustments tools are accessible in various parts of the application itself, so feel free to choose the most suitable option when arranging your workflow. There are several ways to access these tools and work with them, depending on whether you want to make a global or a local copy.
- Cursor Tools. The easiest way is to Navigate the Cursor Tools palette where you can toggle between Copy Adjustments and Apply Adjustments by clicking on the corresponding tool icon and holding the mouse button until the sub-menu appears.
- Arrows on the toolbar. Press the left arrow (located in the top-right corner of the user interface) to copy all the adjustments made to an image. Afterwards, select all the images that you want to apply the settings to in the Browser. Apply adjustments by pressing the right arrow (located in the top-right corner of the user interface).
- Keyboard shortcuts. You can also use keyboard shortcuts Shift+Command+C for copying and Shift+Command+V for applying adjustments on macOS. Use Shift+Ctrl+C or Shift+Ctrl+V for copying and pasting respectively on Windows.
- Main menu. Another way to copy and apply adjustments is to navigate to the Adjustments tab in the main menu and select the appropriate option.
2. Choose the image to copy adjustments from and then select any of the mentioned above ways to Copy Adjustments.
3. Select all the images that you want to apply the settings to in the Browser. Make sure that the Edit Selected Variants option is enabled.
4. Apply the adjustments by using one of the mentioned above ways to Apply Adjustments (main menu, Cursor Tools, arrows in the toolbar, keyboard shortcuts).
Using the Adjustments Clipboard to select and copy certain adjustments
1. Navigate to the Tool tabs area and choose the Adjustments tab.
2. Select the image that you want to copy the adjustments from.
3. In the Adjustments tool tab, you will notice that all the copied adjustments will have a checkmark next to them in the Adjustments Clipboard tool. Deselect any adjustments if you do not want them to be applied to the selected images.
4. Click Copy at the bottom of the Adjustments Clipboard.
5. Select the image thumbnails that you want to apply the adjustment to in the Browser. Make sure that the Edit Selected Variants icon is orange.
6. Apply the adjustments by one of the mentioned above ways to Apply Adjustments (main menu, Cursor Tools, arrows in the toolbar, keyboard shortcuts).
Saving adjustments as a Style
1. Repeat Steps 1-3 from the section above.
2. Save the adjustments as a Style. In the Adjustments tool tab, go to the Adjustments Clipboard and press on the Action menu (...). Then choose an option Save as a Style.
3. Select the images you would like to apply the adjustments to using the Cmd/Ctrl key (macOS/Windows) and navigate to Styles and Presets in the Adjustments tool tab. In User Styles, choose the style you have just created from the Clipboard and apply it.
Copying only Styles between images
When you want to copy only the Style (and no other adjustments accidentally), you can copy it directly to the Adjustments Clipboard using the Copy to Clipboard option from the tool's Action menu.
NOTE: Only one Style may be copied at a time as selecting another Style replaces it in the Clipboard.
1. Select an image in the browser with the Style or stacked Styles applied that you want to copy. Note that the image may include individual adjustments in addition to Styles.
2. To copy only the Style (or Preset), click on the Action menu button (... icon) in the header bar of the Adjustments Clipboard tool, select Copy to Clipboard and then select the required Style or Preset.
3. To keep the Styles data separate from other adjustments when copying between images, make sure the Include Style Name option in the tool's Action menu is enabled with a check-mark. Styles data remains visible and editable. If unchecked, Styles data is merged with other adjustments, making subsequent editing or removal of individual Styles impractical.
4. Select the images you want to apply the Styles and any individual adjustments to in the Browser, using the Cmd/Ctrl key (macOS/Windows).
5. To apply the adjustments from the Adjustments Clipboard, press Apply.
Copy/Apply on Layers
NOTE: In Capture One 12 and earlier versions supporting the Layers feature, those Layers copied from one image to another completely replaced the existing Layers on the target images.
Capture One 20 opens up for a more flexible, layer-centric workflow. You can now select which layers you would like to copy to other images. Additionally, the Layers that get applied to other images will be added on top of already existing Layers instead of replacing them.
It is now possible to copy and apply Layers between images of different dimensions as well, making it much easier to streamline a workflow where, for example, multiple cameras are used and Styles are applied to Layers.
