Clarification about compability of style packs
Hello to everybody.
I've never seriously investigated (and thus used) third parties' style packs. Now I've bought one in a special offer with a lot of different styles and, playing with them, there is stuff that I like. My question is: I know that every Style pack has a 'target' C1 version (i.e. it doesn't work with older versions); but is it guaranteed that it will work forever with new versions?
This official answer seem to deal with the topic, but I'd like to see an explicit sentence. I'd hate to find myself at a certain point with a photo that changes rendering because after an upgrade of C1 a style pack doesn't work any longer.
Thanks.

Sorry, I don't know if such an explicit sentence exists.
I guess they will work in higher versions exactly the same, at least if you use the "Engine" version in the Base Characterics tool the styles had been created for. If using a higher engine, then possibly it might differ though probably not that much.
The next revenue idea could be an overpriced perpetual license price for styles, and a subscription to guarantee compatibility with higher versions ... :-)

Actually the capability of keeping an old Engine active should reassure.

I can't guarantee something will work forever without knowing what Capture One will look like in 20 years, but the Styles will only stop working if the information contained becomes redundant, i.e. if a tool is removed or renamed at code level.
I personally can't see Styles becoming deprecated with new versions and if something did change that, we would likely release an updated version of the Styles packs that you have purchased in order to make them compatible with the new version.
I'd imagine third party providers might do the same, if it's something you have purchased.0
