You can have a generic session with no images that you use as a "browser" by using the System Folders section of that generic session. This will let you visit any folder on your system, make adjustments to images where they reside, and export them to wherever you want. The dirty little secret about this is that every folder you visit with that session will get a folder created in it called CaptureOne even if you don't edit any images in that folder.

While this method will give you the freedom you seek, it comes with some downsides.

Hey Walter , thank you for your prompt response .
I have already done what you just recommended , but that just ends up filling multiple locations on my harddrive/s with CaptureOne folders . What I’m missing is the freedom to simply open one image in Capture One and work on it , and not having to deal with a bunch of CaptureOne folders scattered in different locations ; or having to go through the process of creating sessions or catalogs every time .
I have loved the experience I’ve had so far with Capture One as an editing software , but this could serve as a single sore reason for me to quit using it .
