I think that whether you can do this depends on the make of camera. Some can and some can't. If your camera can do this with Capture One, it may need a setting to be changed in the camera.

I'm afraid I'm not sure about that. The video uses a Z9, and you have a Z6ii. Whether it works with one or the other I am not sure. I have a Z6ii and a Z8, but I haven't tried tethering. Maybe someone who does use tethering with the Z6ii will be able to comment.

Capture One 16.2.6 supports every Nikon Z camera made including tethering except the Zf (no tethering). Some models are not supported for wireless tethering.

I have been trying this with both the Z6ii and the Z8. As you can see, on the current version of Capture One, the option the video I linked to says something different now under recording media.

BUT.... (and bear in mind this is my first ever attempt at tethering!) I could get images saved to the computer with both the Z6ii and the Z8, but despite that setting saying Capture One+Card, it ins't getting saved to the card.

Quite possibly there is something else I needed to do!

    Walter Rowe - any ideas?

Do these cameras have two card slots? Do you have a card in the correct slot? It may only work for some camera models and not others. Also, try using the camera shutter button vs the release button in Capture One. In my experience it only worked when I used the camera shutter button.

    They both have two slots.

    I'll try the shutter button.

Walter Rowe, thanks for the tip. A quick test shows that when I use the camera shutter button it does indeed record the image on the card as well as on the computer. (Tested with both Z6ii and Z8.)

Ian Wilson .. this has worked on Nikon for quite some time though it has not been an "advertised" feature. I shared it with Capture One when I discovered it quite by accident. I don't think they were aware. I learned that they do not use the Nikon SDK (which doesn't support this). So clearly the camera is capable of doing this and Nikon doesn't expose that in their SDK. Other apps that depend on Nikon's SDK will not have this feature.

    Kudos to Capture One!
