Unable to edit
With my last set of image files, I ingested into Photo Mechanic as usual, added some metadata, and then went to CO to crop/adjust. It was fine the day before, but I was unable to do anything because most menu items were greyed out. I attempted to Crop but the cursor didn't change and I couldn't grab the crop frame. Right-clicking the crop pixel count in the frame only brings up the UI color menu for the area surround the preview. in the Crop menu it's all greyed out excerpt for Add and Remove Aspect Ratios.
The Adjust tab also will not allow any changes, White Balance mode is blank and can't be changed, all the sliders in the other sections are greyed out.
Metadata tab, there are keywords from the PM Ingest, but if I click one it says "The action cannot be applied to any of the selected items". I also can't do anything in the Crop tab either.
I've tried relaunching and rebooting and that makes no difference. I can't even do anything to previously edited images.
So I'm now stuck and can't use CO until they decide to respond to my support request.

Try this: take Photomechanic out of the loop. Copy the original image files to a temp folder and import that folder into Capture One. Can you edit them if they have not been touched by PM?

I copied a few ARW files and I can manipulate those. Then I copied an xml metadata file and it was still ok. I think it's something to do with the session, I tried using a different session and it was ok. I had noticed that the one I was using had an icon next to the folder that contains these images, Trash. I couldn't remember if that was there before, but the test session doesn't have it and I don't know how it got there (aside from the touchpad on this laptop being too sensitive despite the Windows setting). I tried setting it to something else but now there are two icons. I don't see a way to undo them. If there isn't a way then I guess I'll have to create a new session.

I can't offer suggestions, I'm on Mac, but at least you have a way to work around the issue. Maybe someone else can hop in and offer better advice.

If the Trash icon shows against the folder that the images are in, then that folder is currently set as the session trash folder. And Capture One won't allow you to edit images in the Trash folder.
It sounds as though for some reason the folder you want to use has got set as the Trash, by mistake. You could put things right like this.
- Find the physical session folders in the System folders section of the Library tool. (NB: NOT the ones in the session folders section at the top of the tool.) They should have icons against them as shown here.
- If any of the folders don't have the default icons as shown, you can reset them, like this. Right click the folder you want to reset to its default use, and you should see a menu like this.
So for instance if the physical trash folder does not have the trash icon next to it, you can right click it and choose "Set as Session Trash Folder". If the Capture folder is set as trash, you can right click it and choose "Set as Capture Folder". (But reset the trash first, and then reset the Capture, if that is what is needed.)
