Support for the A7CII was added in 16.3.2. You will have to upgrade to 16.3 to get support for that camera.

See Camera Models and Raw Files Supported by Capture One.

I guess you are a permanent license holder as well, right? Things have changed and the minor version you buy is the version you are allowed to have, so if you were to get another permanent license now, it will include any 16.3.x, but not 16.4 or 17.0

Please keep this in mind when looking for camera upgrades or fixes of known bugs potentially affecting your workflow on 16.2 or 16.3

Also, I'd comment that Adobe doesn't really do camera updates for free - they are only "free" if you have the apps, which requires that you to continually pay a subscription. Different economic model from Capture One, but still not free. Of course, you can also use a subscription on Capture One instead, in which case you get all upgrades as they come along, though admittedly Capture One subscriptions are more expensive.

Ok thanks everyone for answering, that makes things clear.

250 euro just to add support for one camera is a bit silly, that is 2 years of Lightroom + Photoshop, a subscription that is cheaper than anything C1 is offering. Don't see the point, going back to Adobe CC and DXO 7.

For me capture one doesn't add enough value, the interface / workflow is not so exceptionally great that it is worth the money, it used to be when upgrades where 79 euro. Now with all the unpredictable hoop jumping and no proper upgrade except some insulting 'thank you' coupon nonsense I've had enough of this weird mess.

I do agree maarten toner, you should be able to get a file for the camera, or at least buy a file as plugin or so, to get support for it. It's silly you're forced to pay for a whole new licens if you upgrade your gear!

Not all cameras are made equal and sometimes handling new RAWs requires adding features not related explicitly to camera support (like conversion of raw data to colorspace), but more to specific in-camera features, so even if majority of cameras does not need significant code changes, how would it be explained, why some cameras are available as plugins, while some only as license upgrades?

ANNND there it is: "Please keep this in mind when looking for camera upgrades or fixes of known bugs potentially affecting your workflow on 16.2 or 16.3"

It's kind of sad (and dare I say cringy) how desperate all of this is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  Feels like Apple and their charging ports. Just give an actual reason to subscribe and people will do it. Simple.As.That.
