Why not always Defringe?
Living in a place with harsh sun most of the year, I ask myself (And therefore all of us): Why do I need to use the purple defringing tool sometimes? Why not embedding it into the image processing engine? Why not just using it as an import style?
Same question can be asked for CA and Diffraction repair (Above, Say F/16 in the photo)
Thanks for the insights.

I think it depends on the image, and the lens. Some lenses will be more prone to it than others. I suppose (though I am no expert) that any "correction" like that to an image slightly degrades it (non-destructively, of course).

Thanks Guys
@Ian that was my first thought: If it's optional, there is probably some kind of a penalty.
My question started from a few observations:
1. I almost always forget to use the correction section
2. With good lenses, I also see some fringing. That caused me to be a bit worried about #1. I saw fringing today with a Nikon 24/1,8G which is a very good lens.0
