Catalogue search question
I'm looking at setting up catalogues with the prime aim of being able to search for players.
I am the official tog for a rugby club and through the season shoot say 20 - 25 matches, on average 120 images per game.
I have been asked for some images of a player, let's say Fred Smith. Can I search a catalogue for the whole season for said player in one go?
I am currently learning how to set up a session with smart albums in conjuction with Photomechanic. I caption the image in PM then load the images into my C1 capture folder in the session. My smart albums pick up the players, so I can easily find Fred Smith.
However, what I need to do, is find Fred Smith in one search over the whole season without having to go through individual sessions.
Can I build a structure, so each time I load images with Fred Smith in they go to one folder and not individual ones for each match?
Hope you can make sense of that. 😄

You could create a keyword for each player (his name) and use the Filters tool. 0 -
You can make a smart album in the catalogue that can cover the whole season. 0 -
So many possibilities for this so long as the name you need is somewhere in the metadata or keyword system.
But is you are working with entirely independent sessions there would nbe no overall search for a single player across a season like there would in a catalog.
On the other hand if you were to habitually create output files - possibly quite small output files - that contained the relevant Keyword or metadata values you could then search using your operating system search engine (great if you were also indexing the files at the OS level) or by making the output files form each session part of a catalogue. (Not the whole session, just the output files which would likely be social media friendly jpgs I would suggest.)
That way the location of the file also gets you directly to the session should you need to go there but with a very small, compacted for purpose catalogue. (If the OS based search does not appeal to you ....)
