Can the Catalog Backup be automated?
It's just really annoying to have the prompt to backup every time and then wait and click the ok button again.
I don't really understand why this is even an option to begin with. Shouldn't it be backed up with every start or quit? Can we get an option to bypass the backup prompt and let it run in the background?

This option does not exist in the program, but you could ask this in the Scripting subforum here.
I think that the idea behind the solution as it is today, is that the prompt and the backup action takes place while there is no write activity to the database. That is important for database backups.0 -

Agreed. Adding to the annoyance is the lack of feedback that you clicked the button in the first place. A backup progress indicator would be appreciated. As it is if you are not paying suitable attention you might not notice the message changed and that you need to click the button again.0 -
Fully agree the backup dialogue is annoying, it takes longer than the backup itself. I would like to have a setting to automatically make a backup when you close a catalog that has been changed since the last backup, without any dialogue.
