I use Affinity Photo occasionally rather than as a matter of course. But what I do if I want to use it (perhaps for more retouching than Capture One can manage) is that I do as much as possible of my edit in Capture One (white balance, exposure, saturation, etc, etc). Then I use the Edit with command to put a TIFF file into Affinity Photo and do what I need to do in Affinity. If I want to save the .afphoto file, I just save it directly into my Selects folder. Why use another folder at all?

But no, Capture One can't display the .afphoto file.

To do round trip editing between C1 and Affinity Photo, first go to the General section in Affinity preferences and make sure that 'Enable "save" over imported PSD files' is enabled (checked).

In C1, do an 'Edit With', but select PSD as the file type (not TIFF). When finished editing in AF, simply do a 'Save' in AF, and the edited PSD file will be available back in C1 and you can continue editing in C1. You can also save the .afphoto file somewhere, but that's a file format specific file Serif apps, so C1 can't read it.
