Reviewing files

I have a new glitch in Capture One Pro. I use Windows 10. Opening my folders I sometimes get images appearing that don't belong there. An image from an adjacent folder takes the place where another saved image should be. This is most disconcerting! Is this a common problem? Usually after a while it corrects itself, But the problem happens again when I return to that same folder. Sometimes also I open a folder that is supposed to contain 3 or 4 images, but only one appears in the browser. Where do they go? I have started saving my important images on the desktop to be safe.
