How to filter import by rating

Hi

I'll try to be as clear and concise as possible.

Firstly I have access to COP9 on both Windows and Mac computers but doing my best to limit my use to Mac.

I'm struggling with import overload! My current challenge is producing some good pictures for a portfolio website.

I have many thousands of images, most of them are not suitable for the website.

What I would like to do is rate in some way my pictures outside COP and then select (or sort) them on the basis of the rating within the import dialogue box so I only import the pictures I know have a chance of "making it" to the website.

I have tried using Bridge, and the OS but when I get to the import dialog box in COP the "sort by" option does not recognize the ratings I have given outside COP.

So I am left with importing a huge number of files into COP, most of which I won't do anything with. This is a slow process and slows my catalog.

Has anyone found a way to do this?

I am using a referenced catalog.

  Capture One will read those ratings, but no, you can't set it as an import filter.
  
  Your best bet is, once you've done your ratings, moving the rated images into their own folder and then import only the contents of that folder.
  
  As an aside, take a look at Photo Mechanic. If you've got thousands of images to rate & cull, it's hands down the fastest way to burn through them.

  That is, indeed, what I have now done but it's messy as I now have two live copies of the same image. Perhaps Phase One could incorporate some filtering into their import dialog.
