C1 20 Pro No Fuji Film Simulations [ANSWERED]
Hello,
It's my first post here.
I'm using C1 pro 2O for a month now (noob) with raw files from a Sony A72.
I've tried to import RAF files from my XE2 and in the Base Characteristics Menu, I select Fujifilm X-E2 Generic (or V2) and in the Curve I have only five choices : Auto, Film Extra Shadow, Film High Contrast, Film Standard and Linear Response.
Whatever Fuji camera I select in the ICC Profile, I only have these five curves.
How can I get all the Fujifilm simulations?
Thx

Not all Fuji camera are supported - notably the older ones were not part of the development arranged between Fuji and Phase.
Whether that is for technical reasons or something else is not known.
As I understand it the exceptions are cameras with the X-Trans I and II sensor.
I'm not familiar with Fuji cameras but I seem to recall the E2 sits in the group of unsupported cameras?

I have the same issue with X-T1. And I don't know why... On my X-T3 everything works well. Maybe the cameras before Phase-Fuji agreement are not supported? 0 -
This is the list of film simulation supported cameras in CO:
Fujifilm GFX 50S
Fujifilm GFX 50R
Fujifilm X-T3
Fujifilm X100F
Fujifilm X-E3
Fujifilm X-T2
Fujifilm X-T20
Fujifilm X-Pro2
Fujifilm X-H1

Ok, that’s why. Too bad.
Thanks for the answer.0 -
This might seem like a bad thing - but it's actually not. The film simulations for Fuji are notoriously bad and have an overly magenty/pink tone to them - especially in the highlights.
Whether this is due to a bad job by Fuji or whether PhaseOne is deliberately trying to make the images look bad - I don't kow. All I know is that this magenta/pink tone is bothering a lot of people in Fuji forums.
The Black&White profiles are nice but they seriously lack some punch and you always have to edit the contrast and clarity settings, so it's easier to create your own styles and just disregard the simulations completely.0 -

Interesting.
I have a selection of Fuji Raw files for a few of their film simulation capable cameras downloaded as samples.
I can't find any that show up a magenta or pink tone on my system when using a Fuji film simulation.
My understanding is that Fuji were involved and so will have approved the results one assumes.
I seem to recall a comment about pink highlight when using extended ISO50 mode. I can't recall whether that was for Fuji or Sony cameras.
I remembered it as I sometimes, somewhat randomly, see something similar in my Canon 600D files though ISO 50 does not seem to be a factor for them. In fact there is no obvious factor other than the parts of image affected being very very close to blown out and an evident blip showing in the red channel in the Histograms for the affected images. Obviously that has nothing to do with Film Simulations.
I would be interested to compare the effects if anyone can share an affected Fuji image.

There are still some free third party Fuji film simulations around from C1 11 days and they still seem to "work" in C1 20.
Have a look at this post:

and download from here:

The guy made them for the X-T1 and X-Pro2 but they might be ok for your X-E2.
You should rename them to something like X-E2 Acros etc.
If using Windows place them in: C:\Program Files\Phase One\Capture One 11\Color Profiles\DSLR
if that is how you have C1 installed.
You access them from the C1 Base Characteristics ICC Profile box not the Curves box.
Drill down to Fuji/X-E2 and see if they show up.0 -

I had found some profiles on DPReview too some time ago but I wasn't able to find them back when I replied.
They are here and I don't know if they are the same, better or worse.

Also Mastin Labs has a couple of sets with a few presets containing film profiles (7 in total). It's interesting how they split their styles in "tools" but they ask 99$ for each.0 -
Very subjective, but I always preferred the Capture One default profile for my X-Trans II images.
For X-Trans III, on the other hand, I tend to like the official C1/Fujifilm simulations as a base for a little editing of my own.0 -

As i said, this is mainly an issue with bright areas and skin tones. I'll try to attach an image where it's visible.
Here is an example using the Fuji PROVIA Simulation:

And the same with a manually calibrated profile:

To me the Provia image has a strong pink/magenta tint in the highlight areas and then it drops to a completely differnt skin tone in the mid-tones. And you can't even correct that in Capture One. This is not an issue with a darker skin tone but with light skin it's very annoying.
And this issue is present with just about every color film simulation.0
