Renaming: timestamp plus sequence
My generally-preferred naming scheme for images is just YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM-SS, but there are those rare occasions when I take more than one image per second.
Is there a token which will give me that? Ideally, it would only be added when there's a filename clash, but I think that may be tricky, so I'd be happy with _01 on the end of most images, with _02 etc. when needed.
I started adding the 'Sequence' tag on the end, but that's more global, and causes issues with batch renaming etc. Can I do any kind of per-second counter? Or include milliseconds? 😊

As far as I can tell camera's do not record milliseconds so there wouldn't be a way to add ms to the naming scheme.
When I batch rename 3 images images with your naming scheme, 2 of which were taken within the same second, Capture One will put a 1 after the second image, as follows:
18-09-06_12-31-16
18-09-06_12-31-16 1
18-09-06_12-31-19
Using the sequence count token after the date & time works like this:
18-09-06_12-31-16_0
18-09-06_12-31-16_0 1
18-09-06_12-31-19_0
Using the Sequence ID token does this:
18-09-06_12-31-16_--
18-09-06_12-31-16_-- 1
18-09-06_12-31-19_--
Do those options not work for you?0 -
Ah, silly me - I should have guessed that C1 would just do something automatically to avoid the clash!
I did use another system which required you to include a sequence token if you wanted that behaviour, so I assumed I neeeded to do the same here and couldn’t work out which of the sequences and counters would do what I wanted. They seemed to be more 'global'. Are the tokens documented somewhere?
Anyway, I’d prefer filenames which didn’t include spaces, but the automatic '1' will work Ok - thanks!0 -
After you do the batch rename you can select all images and open the batch rename tool then switch it to the find and replace function. In the Find field press the space bar once " ", then in the replace field type the underscore "_", all spaces in your filenames will be replaced with an underscore.
I do not know where definitions are for the tokens, if there are any.0
