You could probably move them out of the Aperture catalog and then use the Locate… menu item in Capture One to tell it where they now are.

Yes, but when I do that, I will lose all data associated with them (star ratings, image adjustments, album organization, etc.).

I don't think so. Those data are stored in Capture One's catalog.

Ok, to be clear, the steps ought to be:

    1. Migrate Aperture library to Capture One (File->Import Catalog->Aperture Library...)
(all metadata, stars, structure is copied over, but the actual photo files are referenced)

    2. Manually move all photo files from Aperture package into the Capture One file system (using Finder)

    3. Use 'Locate...' in Capture One to point to the new physical location.

    Is that right?

    Thanks for your help

That's what I would try, yes. Of course first back up everything just in case it goes awfully wrong. 😊

It half-worked. I was able to move my pictures out of the Aperture library and into the Capture One catalog, but using 'Locate' you can't specify a destination directory that is inside a package. So, instead, I moved all of my files outside both catalogs, and then used 'Locate' to reference the new location. Because that new location is outside Aperture, I can just get rid of my Aperture library.

    Thanks for your help.

You're most welcome! Glad it worked.
