Moving Catalog to External Drive

My internal drive on my IMAC is almost full. I want to move my capture one catalog and Aperture Import Catalog to an external drive and work off of that drive. What is the easiest way to accomplish this move.

  Hi,
  
  copy both catalogs to external drive with Finder or Shell (I do this always with the Shell). Then start Aperture and C1 and open the catalogs from new location.
  If this work and do not become any errors, you can erase both old catalogs from internal drive.

  Thank you. Your suggestion is the method I used. In addition I renamed the original catalogs by placing a "Z" in front of the name so I would be clear when I opened Capture 1.
