Smart albums, keywords issues

Hi everyone,

I just installed C20 on my MBP.

I imported my old LR catalog (about 40.000 items) and tried to work with smart albums now.

I came across three questions and I hope you can help me here.

1) Is it true that I cant create nested smart albums? Like Travel - Europe - France - Paris, where each folder is a smart album so I can create folder like structure?

2) I have keywords on my pictures. When I create a new smart album, it simply doesnt work. Pictures dont show up in the smart album.
Also when I select the keyword "Paris" in the lower right, there is no easy way to transform this into a smart album, correct?

3) When "All images" isnt selected, the lower left "Keyword" field is completely empty. Which means I first have to select any picture before I can select a keyword. That doesnt make any sense at all, is this expected behaviour?

Any help is highly appreciated, the documentation is unfortunately incredibly high level.

  Update: When I create a new smart album, for example with "Paris" it doesnt produced any results.
  
  Workaround: Closing CO20 and reopening it. Then the smart album gets populated.
  
  Annoying. Is this expected behaviour?
  
  Creating smart album from current filters still doesnt work. Also annoying... 😕

  1) Nested smart albums: I, too, miss that feature. It doesn't even have to be a nested smart album. If capture one would show me the images in all contained albums when I clicked on a folder I'd be happy. In the mean while I create multiple smart albums at the same level. Using your example one for Travel, another for Europe, a third for France, etc.
  
  2) Smart albums: I've noticed the same issue with smart albums based upon keywords not populating immediately. I don't remember if I needed a restart or if I did something else to get the album contents to show up.
  
  3) Filtering: I think that is the way it works. First you select an album or folder then you can filter on the contents of that album or folder. Select All Images if you want to filter on your entire catalog.

  Ahh, glad I am not the only one 😄
  
  1) would be really a great feature.
  
  2) currently that is the only way it works for me
  
  3) unfortunately doesnt work at all. When I select all images in the catalog, click on a filter and want to create a smart album, the filter section is always empty.
  
  Probably opening tickets for 2) and 3). and maybe once we will get 1) as a feature.
  
  Even browsing the folder structure is annoying. My structure is YYYY-MM-DD. Each is a subfolder. With LR you could easily click on YYYY or MM and it would show all images from every subfolder. Super nice to scroll through the timeline.
  Now I have to select every DD folder separately.

  With the Geotagged argument the behaviour is similarly odd: selection all pics with geotag false brings up the right selection. After geotagging these pics (with HoudahGeo), they still show up in the smart album even after reloading or syncing the metadata. Action to recalculate the smart album is unclear, even edit does not help.
