Red eye Reduction

Well sorry to raise an old post from CaptureOnev8, but is there any chance this red-eye issue will get addressed in Capture One?

I am editing hundreds of family photos and red-eye is definitely an issue. And YES I shoot RAW and YES I use off-camera flash so don't tell me how to do it properly. I am dealing with 2 decades of photos.

It doesn't help when you say that it is not a problem for Professional photographers. If I was pirating your software, sure you could say, she doesn't matter. But I pay the same for all my Capture One licenses as those who think I am a complaining lunatic.

The recommended manual layer editing is a crock of #$%@
Photos with multiple red-eyes, esp brown eyes with red tones, requires multiple layers and multiple masks, when one button click could fix it. And round tripping to Photoshop to fix red-eye is embarrassing PhaseOne, wasting my time, wasting my resources.

I'm going to be editing these for a long time, and I am sure that many other Photographers will get the job of editing their families photos as well. Fobbing us off when we choose to use Capture One instead of Lightroom, that's shitting where you eat. Such a small thing to be on your high-horse. It's like the restaurant chef who won't cook steaks any way other than rare because they know best.

  I'm not really sure it a useful message at all, certainly not the way you have chosen to deliver it.

  I can understand the frustration you have with the task at hand but I think Jimmy's advice form the earlier thread still stands.
  
  My experience with red-eye, mainly from compact cameras and phone cameras but also some slightly underexposed group shots where the flash setting used was not quite powerful enough to cover the entire range required, has been mixed across the use of several products. Mostly the tools just seemed to attempt to replace the redness with a black blob to simulate an iris. Usually acceptable for a snap shot or a small print but quite nasty if viewed large.
  
  Much better results are available via the technique that Jimmy outlined - using a local adjustment layer. But they may be more time consuming unless you are able to find a setting that works to reduce the effort required for a large number of you problem images. If the images are relatively consistent in terms of the required adjustment it can be done quite effectively and efficiently.
  
  If not then take the outputs and use an application that you find more suitable to make the final fix.
  
  You probably know of some that seem to be able to automatically identify and fix red-eye. When I tried a couple some years a go the red-eye spotting was quite good but they also found other things to 'fix' in many images which was a shame as dealing with that challenge took longer than doing manual fixes on the genuine red eyes.
