Export to session / import catalog into sessions
ImplementedI started using C1 with catalogues but when doing lots of Imports and deletions it frequently crashes. That never happend to me when using sessions.
Unfortunately there is only a way to Import a session into a catalogue but I miss the vice versa. So here is the request for it:Make it possible to imprt a catalog (I use managed ones) with all variants and work into a session. Since many users talk About crashed when using catalogues this is a way to work until those Problems are solved.

Hi Jehuda,
Thank you for your request.
Please, read here the complete guidelines on how to migrate from a Catalog to a Session in Capture One - https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002423958-How-to-migrate-from-a-Catalog-to-a-Session-
Best regards,

Why do you want to use Managed Catalogues rather than sessions? What is your objective?
It seems to me that there are some aspects of Catalogues that might appear to be useful that cannot be accomplished in sessions.
That might suggest using a Catalogue rather than a session. However in turn it also means that catalogues as they can be defined, cannot be transposed into sessions. So the options available for exporting files and edits into a form that can be opened in a session would seem to satisfy the core requirement.
Since the problem you are experiencing is obviously note something to be expected tha development of a full export facility would presumably be redundant once the problem is resolved.
Therefore I think that your request, as described and for proposed as a solution for the reason outlined, would probably not gather much support in its current form.

Lily,
This does ot work with all file types eg. tiffs cannot be packed into EIPs. And, it duplicates the files, as Walter points out.
EDIT: I just saw user comments that packing EIP is not needed, contrary to C1 guide. I will check this out, this should solve the problem with tiffs or other supported file types.
EDIT2: yes. If you export originals with adjustments, EIP not checked, then it creates the Settings folder with .cos and .comask files and you can open the images (navigate to, or create a favorite) with any session you have created.
Just be careful that you don't have a session open while exporting from the catalog, at least no session which knows the folders you are exporting to.
The (still open) session will not accept the exported .cos or .comask files. It does not matter if you delete the images from disk (in the session) and re-export the same images or export new images which have not been exported before. So, close the session before exporting.
