Start with your file in C1. Right click image. Select Edit With. Choose Affinity Photo. A TIFF of your file will be created in Affinity photo. Make your edits there, then save the file. You will return to C1 with the edited TIFF file visible in the C1 browser.

I develop a raw image as much as I can in C1 before passing it to an external editor, in earlier times PS, later GIMP or quite recently I tested Affinity Foto. For most of my images I do not need to use external editors.

I usually pass the tiff file (as Photophart described), with AdobeRGB 16 bit with no or subtle sharpening adjustments. Once back in C1 I then finetune the tiff variant depending on the output target e.g. web or print.

You will find out what works best for you. It is advisable to avoid jpg, sRGB or 8 bit in the workflow until you finally process the image for a specific purpose for which you need / cannot avoid the lower fidelity.

    regards

Affinity, for RAW files for example, has the Develop persona that is its RAW conversion process. Basically that is what Capture One does.

So if you have processed in C1 you would not need the Develop persona in your Affinity activity.

Affinity has no DAM functionality (at the time of writing but there are always rumours that that might change). So once you have undertaken PS-like edits in Affinity you can, if you choose, manage them using the C1 DAM options. Or, of course, some other application or file storage method.

If you think of the relationship of the applications on that basis it might make the basic positioning of each application a little easier.
