Grayscale warning
ImplementedAs a new user to Capture One, one of my goals was to import a large collection of old scanned genealogical and family photographs. Many were not recognized/imported, and many were imported but could not be edited.
It took me a very long time to discover that the problem was that they had been scanned in grayscale, which Capture One cannot import and process. Once I discovered that, I found that I could use Graphic Converter to change the colorspace and merge the profile into the image to import and edit the old scanned images.
My request is that when Capture One is asked to import a grayscale image, a warning dialog appears saying "Capture One cannot import grayscale images. Convert grayscale images to an RGB colorspace before importing." That would have saved me hours of frustration.
Thanks for considering this.

Hi Peter,
Thank you for feedback on Capture One - this is always welcomed and encouraged among our users and we appreciate the time you've taken to contribute towards the development of the software.
I have forwarded your comments and suggestions to our Product Management team as something to consider in a future release.
Whilst we cannot comment on future releases, we take all suggestions on board and hopefully your feedback contributes towards a future version of Capture One.

I have also been frustrated by this, as well as the fact that files under certain pixel dimensions also prohibit editing. And not just image edits, but also things like keyword entry.
If there are technical limits to the engine not being able to edit images under a certain size or in a certain color space then I can understand that. But it really should be made clear why that is. And even if the image itself can't be edited, then at least let us edit metadata.
Sidebar: another frustrating angle to this is that C1 is happy importing video files, but doesn't allow editing of their metadata, effectively prohibiting any kind of meaningful organization, which in turn makes their import useless.

Same issue here. I would love to be able to import grayscale TIFFs from B&W film negative scans into Capture One. Although I am applying the trick to convert the scans to RGB color space I don't think it is a good solution. The file sizes explode while doing so.

What is the trick to convert the scans to RGB? I've not found a good solution so far. These files are scattered among many different folders because they are different projects, I'm looking for a way to batch convert them. Very disappointed with Capture One for not supporting this, and I've found many previous threads with the same concerns, dating back as far as 10 years, still no support...

I ended up modifying a GIMP script to do the conversion. But for the script the files need to be in one folder which might not help you a lot of you have many years work spread across many folders.
