Edit metadata of all importable filetypes

Piggybacking on the post about greyscale warnings please consider the following:
If a filetype can be imported, then allow full metadata editing. Currently there are file sizes or formats that can be imported but not edited, even prohibiting metadata edits like keywording, effectively rendering their import useless.
I can understand technical limits prohibiting editing of certain image content, but if a filetype is allowed to be imported, it should be allowed full metadata modification to allow effective organization. This is especially important with projects that mix still and video files.
