Saving as B&W JPG producing a strange result

Hello all, C1 newbie here

I am trying to save some Sony Raw pics converted to B&W. When I use Export Variant for a colour version there is no problem but when I try to do a B&W version I get what appears to be a heavily posterised pic.

Whilst in C1 when I apply either a B&W style or preset the image very briefly creates this posterising or tone-mapping effect the becomes the B&W image.

Any help is appreciated.

  Posting an example could help us unterstand.

  But I have an idea. Try if it helps when Opencl (hardware acceleration) in preferences is disabled for processing.
