Aspect ratio on import
I'm trying to find a way to import images with a certain aspect ratio.
The problem I have is if I import with a crop adjustment it will apply it the same way regardless of the images orientation, for example both horizontal and vertical images will end up wth a horizontal crop.
If I import without the crop, then select all images and 'apply aspect ratio', it will only apply this to the primary variant despite edit all selected variants is active. If I then copy the crop settings to all, the same problem as above happens, applying the same crop orientation no matter the image variation.
The only way I can think to do it is import uncropped, then filter for horizontal images, apply a horizontal crop, then follow the method for vertical.
Surely I'm missing something here? I can't image there's no way to easily apply an aspect ratio across a range of images, and no way to do this on import.
Thanks

To my knowlegde there is no other way.
This auomatic workflow you are missing makes only sense, I think, if you are importing variations of images with the same field of view / content, because otherwise you would like to adjust the crop anyway, and the aspect ratio itself as chosen in the tool, would anyway stay the same if you use it, even across images. That might explain why it is not implemented.

I would also highly appreciate a way to make the "Apply Aspect Ratio" feature in the Crop tools ... menu available as a preset!

… but it does!!!- Select 2 or more files in the browser.
- Crop an image to the ratio you want.
- Shift + click the "copy / paste" symbol and
the ratio is applied to all the selected files.
