Leica SL2 not detected
It says support was added for the Leica Sl 2. However the attached camera, which works fine with Leica shuttle is not detected by Capture 1 20 pro latest update as of May 24th. 2020

"Support" is an ambiguous word in this context. Possible meanings:
1) Can Capture One process the raw file from this camera?
2) Can Capture One work with this camera tethered?
3) Can Capture One work with this camera tethered in live view mode.
The answer for your SL2 is Yes/No/No. The "added support for SL2" means they have specific support for processing raw DNG files from the SL2.

Well if that's the case, "Support" is a misleading word. Moreover, they should not have used the word "camera" and instead used the word "file".
It's sad to see companies mislead people, it ruins their credibility. If they are just another company over inflating their performance to boost sales..... well, I certainly wouldn't buy any of the Hardware without testing it out in hand, to see if worked to spec.
what a disappointment.....

Someday, hopefully, they will allow tethering like practically everyone else. I shoot Leica, and tether Canon cameras for my assignments.

Mark,
Who are "they" in your comment?

Hi Mark and others,
The workaround as hot folder via Image Shuttle can also be done in its own way via Lightroom. Stability remains an issue though. Besides copying from previous adjustments, pre-loading styles is another draw back of the workaround, besides not loading the new image onto the active screen and the time it takes to load new files.
The file support of the DNG files from Leica of Capture One do make up for the flaws - the incredible colour, texture, editing possibilities and raw-processing of the files still make CO the software of choice.
The draw backs make it understandable to prefer a Canon set-up when tethering, a set up I also do myself. A real waste of technical and visual potential though - Firstly investing into high end glass (Zeiss Milvus in my case on SL) and a magnificent work horse camera to attain a specific look, then to scale down to Canon (Zeiss Milvus does not work well with Milvus, pushing me towards either Canon or Sigma glass) to enable a solid work flow that enable customer involvement.
I have prompted this question to one of the software engineer at Capture One, Michael Greszta.
He directed me towards Frank Schroeter and Christian Grüner, both also with CO. This, after several non-answers from the CO helpdesk. As soon as I know more of any developments, I will post it here.0 -
I have now also reached out to Leica:
----
Dear developers at Leica,As a commercial photographer working to deliver the best possible results, I know I am speaking on behalf of a significant user group. The SL gives remarkable results in professional imaging, the SL2 even more so. These camera’s are taking a leap in the industry as high end mirrorless systems, also due to the L-mount alliance. Convinced Leica SL users now will stick to Lightroom as tethering in a studio environment as a must, and conversely convinced Capture One users will not work with Leica due to the same issue.
It is in this high end segment that Capture One can jump into a needy user group, if tethered capture where to be possible via Capture One.The workaround using a hot folder via Image Shuttle can be done, also possible its via Lightroom. This is a real shame, the combination of Capture One on Leica gives outstanding results in texture and colour – far exceeding the results of Lightroom in combination with the SL. As both Capture One and Leica user and evangelist, using Lightroom or Image Shuttle to tether via a hot folder is a major step back. Besides stability issues, copying from previous adjustments, pre-loading styles is another draw back of the workaround, besides not loading the new image onto the active screen and the time it takes to load new files. To mention a few aspects. The file support of the DNG files from Leica of Capture One do put allot right - the incredible colour, texture, editing possibilities and raw-processing of the files still make CO the software of choice.
The draw backs make it understandable to prefer for example a Canon set-up when tethering for example, a set up I often hear of and also do myself. A real waste of technical and visual potential though - Firstly investing into high end glass and a magnificent work horse camera to attain a specific look, then to scale down to Canon, pushing photographers towards lesser tools to enable a solid work flow that enable customer involvement.
I have prompted this question to support at Capture One, and on a personal note to both Frank Schroeter and Christian Grüner, both also with CO. They say to take the request into account, but give no outlook on development.
Also I have reached out to the Dutch photographic hardware gross distributor Transcontinenta (distributing Leica in The Netherlands) to support me in the industry demand for a solution to this issue.I am looking to
1) convince Leica to invest in developing a similar Plug in for tethered capture for Capture One as you have done for Lightroom
2) convince Capture One to reach out to Leica for cooperation to make this development possible
3) otherwise point in a direction that can open the next door to making this possibleI have involved Michael Greszta, Christian Grüner and Frank Schroeter of Capture One in this topic.
Hoping you can help me on the above, and in doing so a large Leica SL(2) photographer user group with me.
----As soon as I have word from either, I will keep you posted...

I can only guess that "They" both Leica and Capture One Pro companies have to agree on implementing tethering abilities. The tethering ability with Capture One Pro 20 with SL/SL2 cameras would be a great feature. Until then, I will continue to tether my Canon camera for most commercial photography assignments. I like the message by Jeroen Paling on this matter. Thanks, Jeroen for crafting such a message.
