Capture One 20 on Mac messing up folders
On my disk and also before the issue, I have a folder structure based on year. Now CO is showing me a flat folder structure. Folder that previously was a subfolder in a year folder are now all displayed as folder in the main archive. I managed to restore the order, but next time I opened CO is was all back to a flat folder structure.
The folders on the drive are unaltered for some comfort. I was going to use a backup of the catalog, but in the backup folder the catalog is saved under a different name I used in the past.
Not being able to trust a catalog is a disaster. So many hours of work to organize photos can easily be lost. I still have the originals safely backed up. I also backup the catalog regularly,
I moved from LR to CO because of the improved RAW processing. Now with a messy catalog, I'm not sure if that was a wise move.

have you checked "hide folder hierarchy" in the context menu of the library tab?
If so, you may want to uncheck.

You're right. For some reason "show folder hierarchy" had been turned off.
After changing it to Show I now have one folder with and one without subfolder and with the same name.

You may want to check/verify the catalog (File->Verify Catalog or Session...). Not sure if it'll help but at least you'll know the catalog integrity is fine.

What I don’t like is that catalog backup files don’t have the same name as the catalog. They are using an old name from my previous drive. I have tested data base integrity with no errors.
I will try with a new catalog and import folder by folder. If that fails I will return to LR as the main DAM and only use CO for special projects.0 -
I can certainly understand the frustration. Good luck. Hope you get it resolved.
