Seems to me that Phase is stuck
between the hardware (digital backs) and software (C1 Pro/LE) business.
A few years ago, there was none / few MFDB makers. So there was no problem about C1 users asking for such back by competitors to be supported. Now that there are a few more such competitors, Phase is understandably defensive and not willing to support competitors backs in their software. Recently users were asking if Mamiya ZD would be supported and the answer was of course NO.
I'm working to buy a P30+ so for me it will become a non-issue. However, I can see C1 users being annoyed that they may have to find other converters to use with their non-Phase backs when they already have C1 Pro and have settled their workflow around this software. How should Phase handle this? Any thoughts / suggestions? Should Phase break up into 2 distinct businesses?
