Star Rating in Capture One 7.1.4
Is anyone else experiencing a problem with the star ratings in the recent Capture update 7.1.4 Just spent a good hour rating some images which are not holding the 5 star rating. As I move through the images the rating is lost and it all seems a little buggy ?

Yep--ran into that with star and color ratings. Removing the C1 preferences from ~/Library/Application Support/Phase One and rebuilding the .cosessiondb for the affected session did the trick for me. 0 -
This can be a few different things, and I've seen it in versions of C1 prior to 7.1.3
As mkphotomedia mentioned, resetting preferences will usually do the trick, but what you're really doing is disabling any sort of metadata sync (because it's disabled by default).
Usually you'll see this weird behavior if Metadata Sync is turned on (set to full sync) and the location where your files are being stored have incorrect/damaged disk permissions.
Turning off the full metadata sync fixes the issue, but then the ratings & color settings don't get saved to a sidecar file (only to the C1 session). If you don't care about the rating being saved in the sidecar file, then cool you're good - otherwise start digging in to disk permissions.
Running repair permissions usually does the trick for me, but I have had to occasionally do a full out DiskWarrior scan.
Good luck and let us know if you get it worked out!0 -
Also experiencing this issue. There is no preference file in the location mentioned above. Any other ideas? 0 -

Look again, but make sure you look in the user/Library, not the /Library folder. The user/Library is hidden by default but you can unhide it in several ways (best to google to find the trick you like most).0 -
Yep, looked in ~/Library/Application Support/CaptureOne and there is only a list of subfolders in there: Plug-ins, Presets, Print, Recipes, Search Presets, Skin Tones, and Styles. Looked in each of those but no joy. I did however, uninstall and reinstall CaptureOne 7.1.4 which resolved the issue. 0 -
Forgot to mention the full path
~/Library/Preferences folder
(the suggestion of Applications Support folder was not correct)
Good to hear you solved your issue anyway.0 -
Thanks for taking the time to respond and clarify! 0 -
How about a repair on the bug? My disk permissions are fine, I've tried clearing preference files, and the session verifies fine. This has been a recurring issue for me on 7.x on several machines for several months. I really want to be able to use sidecar files, as I often have clients using adobe products that need the ratings and such to 'transfer' over and be readable by ACR. Using Full Sync, is, as far as I know, the only way to achieve this with CO, and if it's broken and I can't work with the rating system and sidecar files, it's a huge problem. 0
