Highlight slider doesn't work as it should
Hello.
I'm using an Olympus E-510 and have some problem with the highlight slider. When I use it on a picture with overexposed parts, a great amount of the blown out picture information is restored - at least it seems so in the preview. When I enlarge the preview to 100% though, the blown out parts look blown out again, just grey and not white as they do with the highlight slider set to 0. The really annoying thing is: It looks o.k. first even in 100 percent, but then CO1 says "focusing" and after that all the restored details are gone. Same in the saved picture - the blown out parts are still blown out, just grey instead of white.
I've just checked - it's not a problem of the highlight slider, but it also happens if I correct the exposure (e.g. to -1 stop): Looks as it should first, then focusing, then all details are gone again - frustrating!
If I develop the same picture in RawTherapee, Bibble or Silkypix, I don't have this problem. Another thing is the colors - green looks much too reddish. All in all I'm quite disappointed - a freeware like RawTherapee does a better job in many respects. And there were already 2 public betas!
Sincerely
Frank
