What is NIKON GENERIC ICC PRofile in Basic characteristic
Hello!
Can anyone tell me what is NIKON GENERIC ICC PRofile in Basic characteristic, and what is it for ?
It means, that Capture one embed this color profile to RAw files, when open them, and with that overwrites the embeded color profile wich comes with file from camera setting?
I'm never satisfied with colors in critical works ( weddings, portrets) in Capture one 5 (seee my previous topic), so I have to use Nikon Capture NX which is 100 times slower.
It would be great to solve this problem, I would win plenty of hours in Raw processing.
So, my guess is, that this problem comes from that part of file handling, becouse this is the only one extra setting that can modify the overall appearance of colors versus Nikon capture NX where we can not find such option for incoming raw file. (I set the camera embeded color profile for SRGB or Adobe RGB , the software is set to keep that and thats all.
To go further, if there is a chance to set "basic characteristic" , I think there should be more options ( as portret, landscape, vivid etc)not only one "GENERIC". Is there a chance for that?
In roll down menu there is option "Import" but I can not see how I can import profile to here.
Thanks:Béla

well, after raw data is demosaicked and WB applied you need to translate that "RGB" data into some internal working colorspace for C1 to do the remaining work... and here goes RGB->LAB camera input profile (might be one of several different profiles - either supplied by a vendor or created by you), which describes how to do this.[quote="NN21711" wrote:

it does not make any changes to the raw files.[quote="NN21711" wrote:

if you are talking about sRGB and AdobeRGB selected in your camera's setup - those are color profiles that embedded raw converter in camera's firmware is using to create OOC JPG files (and embedded previews in raw files) = they have nothing to do w/ C1 and its raw conversion.[quote="NN21711" wrote:

nope, apart of difference in capabilities that various raw converters have the problem mainly comes from not doing the following things 1) RTFM 2) google 3) read 4) spend your own time digesting the information received 5) master the tool0
