So. As you know 90% of the photo world is p*ssed royally at Adobe. I thought I could just buy Adobe Lightroom as the front end and use CS6 as the main processor. Lightroom would supply the ACR updates and I'd last for quite a few years with "just" plain old CS6. Well. It seems it's not so simple. Changes made to DNG images in LR are apparently not written to the DNG but only to the LR catalog for any particular image. Sort of the same with keywords (I haven't quite figured that one out yet.) Images have to exported to CS6 as TIFs.

So. I have just a few basic questions.
1.) Will Capture One convert raw data to DNG files?
2.) Will Capture One's converter write photo edits and metadata and keywords to the DNG file? And also to Capture One's DAM catalog?
3.) Can exiting metadate templates and keywords be transferred to Capture One's DAM catalog from Bridge and/or LR?
4.) If I download a free trial before September 29, might I still claim the 25% discount to buy?

    Thanks much,
    BAB

    1) Yes, though not x-trans files. We recommend to keep the original raw format of the specific camera
    2) No, we will never alter the original raw-file. That's a core principle in the software. We write our changes to a side-car file, or, when using catalogs, the catalog DB.
    3) I not absolutely certain what you refer to here. Can you explain a bit more? We can import the entire LR catalog, if that is what you mean?
    4) The trial and the discount are not linked in any way. The trial has a 60 day full functional usage span, and the discount has it's own seperate expiry date.

    (1) Yes, but DNG will have a different look!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in C1. The same is true about every format. Nothing is like the raw image. Strange. Unique feature to C1.

This is incorrect LR can and does write changes to the DNG as well as keywords if you set it up that way, of course only another Adobe application like Elements or PS can read the image changes but that goes for any raw software.

By the way CO7 can also read IPTC data (keywords) embeded in the DNG file by LR.

Not saying LR is better than CO7, just saying you have got that wrong. 😊
