Canon 1D2N Profile
Phase One,
I have found the 1D2N profile inferior to those for earlier Canon cameras. Will you be able to improve this profile, or have you gone as far as you will go?
Thank you,
Abner

Abner,
That is the luxury of having Capture One PRO version, if you don't like a profile you can create you own custom profile. If you don't have PRO, other options are to purchase from ETCETERA when a profile becomes available
or to make a Feature Request through the software at the Provide Feedback... directly to Developers.

I've been to Etcetera's web site and here's what Magne Nielsen had to say about releasing profiles through Capture One
\"Hi,
unfortunately there are no release dates for any new profiles for Capture One as long as they are not able to protect my work in some way.
Each week I have several users asking questions and requesting free support for profiles they have received from friends or downloaded on dubious file sharing places...
On top of that I have experienced all kinds of software theft and reverse engineering, both by individuals but also from companies. I am sorry that the amount of this is now partly affecting loyal and friendly customers, but I need some kind of assurance of a return of my investments. An ETC profile is not a simple \"push-button\" operation, it takes weeks of work.
I have several new profiles ready, but as long as I can't get Phase One to implement even a simple protection scheme, it is not worth the effort or risk. We are in discussions, but I do not think they will implement anything until their V4 release, which is still many months away as far as I know. The best way to help me would be to put the pressure upon Phase One...
I am anyhow considering releasing D2X, D200 and 5D profiles...
Best regards,
Magne\"
Would you please comment on this Ulf as we loyal Capture One users have been anxiously awaiting Magne's profile to bring the Canon 5D Capture One conversions to what they have been for the 20D, 350XT etcetera.
Thanks for replying.0 -
When this is all very \"political\" I will not answer on this post. (after all, I am just a poor technician 😂 )
I have however done a request within Phase One for someone to do a post on this thread.
There will be a reply shortly.0 -
In regards to input on Capture One profiles, we would be more than happy to get feedback on this and try and improve them where we can, so they become as good as the can for the broad public.
Give us your specific feedback on why the existing profile doesn't meet your needs and what you would like. Include image material to the extent possible. To give us your feedback, create a support case (), and the issue will be brought up with our development team.
When it comes to embedding 3rd party profiles in our software, we are currently considering our options for providing secure ways of doing this for our future software releases.
Best regards,

i read this to mean that the day might come when magne's profiles will no longer be available for c1pro 😭 at least now i understand why the proflle i want is not available.
i first purchased this software several years ago so i could use those profiles. i am aware of what is happening (and what has happened) as regards phase one, raw shooter, and magne and i have no intention or wish to get into any of that. only to say that as a mac user none of that matters to me. what matters to me is that some magne profiles are available, but not for my new camera. and version 4 is a long ways away for my photographic needs. there are so many things to love about using this program, and i do love working with it. the profiles were the icing on the cake. as a working photographer, i don't want to take the time to profile my camera myself and was more than happy to pay for magne's efforts. he is much better at this than i ever will be!
now i need to think long and hard about my current and future processing software. 😡0 -
