Download error message

My first post here. I was trying to download 3400 pictures I took at my daughters soccer game into a session and got an error message about half way through. I deleted the session and started over and the same thing happened.The following photos could not be downloaded etc... I'm a new user with the pro Sony only software and using a MacBook Air. My apologies if this has already been addressed on the forum.

  3,400 pictures at one game. That's an effort!
  
  What format and size are the pictures? This may help. Is there anything different about the ones that did not load?

  I usually shoot about 1500 per game but this was the championship of the Presidents Cup to represent Colorado, which we won. Shot on a A7R3 in crop mode so 18mb raw files. I ended up processing in ON1 Photo Raw. I've pretty much have decided that I'm sticking with Capture One but this was disappointing and I want to make sure it's not my error.
