Auto adjust

I have my trial version of CO-9 set to do auto adjust during import. The Auto Adjustment Settings (Adjustments -> Auto Adjustments) are set for Exposure, HSL and Levels and the Preferences -> Exposure -> Channel Mode is set to Red, Green and Blue Channels.

My assumption has been that these settings, when taken together, would adjust my imported raw images so that each of the Red, Green and Blue channels would be auto adjusted and that the Levels control would show the high and low settings set properly on the histogram. Further I assumed that given the auto adjust during import, there would be no further adjustment made on the channels if I again clicked the A (for Auto) icon on the Levels control. Unfortunately my assumptions seem to be wrong or CO is not acting properly. I assume the former.

What I have found is that for some of my images the Levels control looks like it has not been adjusted at all, meaning that the histogram displays properly, but the low and high settings are not touching thew histogram at all. If I then click the Auto Icon on the Levels control (A) the adjustment that I thought had already been done finally gets done. Assuming CO knows what it is doing (and I probably do not) what wrong assumption am I making? Or is CO not working properly?

  Mike, that strongly suggests that the issue lies with CO9 failing to implement the auto adjust during import. I have not yet dipped a toe into the v9 waters, but have not encountered that problem in v8 (and indeed I recently revisited some images that were downloaded and edited some time back and clicked on the big 'A' but there were no changes to the settings - which already had a stretched levels curve).

  I suspect that the set of adjustment can be reapplied iteratively if so desired.
  
  So you can have then applied once on import after which a new baseline is established.
  
  Then you can apply them again.
  
  The same thing happens if you set some automated values, then override them in some way, then request automated values again. The application will work with a new starting point and do whatever it is programmed to do.
  
  I think only Phase One can provide the explanation for this.
