Within each Session are the default folders:
Capture
Process
Trash
It is best to use the default folders for each Session.
Set the Process folder as the Process location and you will always know where files will arrive. In the Process folder of the Session.
To create a new session, at the Organize tool, click the + button at the top of the of the display. You can then drag selected images into the Capture Folder for this Session and the Thumbnails and Preview files will be created. You can switch between Sessions using the pulldown at the Session: area at the of the Organize tool.
At the New Session window, name the session appropriately and choose a name for new capture images, ( some use the Date or Customer name ). By adding a capture name in the bottom field, all files imported will be renamed.
Once the Session has been added, image files can be added two ways. 1> load a CF card into the Mac and a window will open offering to import files to the current Session. You can choose to rename files here as well. 2> Drag and drop images into the Capture folder manually, however they will not be renamed.
The application will create the Thumbnails and Preview files. Once created, clicking on a Thumbnail will bring the image up in the main window. All changes made to this image will be preview in real time. Adjustments from one image can be applied to other images in a Session, by selecting their Thumbnails, and hitting icon Apply to Selected Captures.
When you place your cursor over an icon, a pop-up will identify that tool.
Image adjustments include White Balance, Exposure, Focus and then Processing of desired file output.

Matters not whether I plug in the Nikon D70 via USB or plug the memory card into a card reader, same problem. Capture Tool tab shows:
0 captures on \"NIKON D70\"
[Eject] [Import]
with the Import button greyed out. Is this a bug or a feature? How do I actually import?
I have 13 days left on my evaluation but I will delete the whole thing long before then. I just don't have time to screw around.0 -
Breathe easy, it is not a Bug !
Be certain you are capturing RAW files. You cannot download files from a camera into C1. Easiest is to use a CF card reader. Be sure the reader is recognized by your Mac. If the drive is recognized you can open, select files and drag directly into the Captures folder for a named Session.
CF cards must be formatted on your Mac in MS-DOS and they must contain the DCIM folder in order to be recognized.

Paul,
Nikon cameras supported with version 3.7 are:
D2X / D1X / D2H / D1H / D100 / D70
Following instructions from above for creating a Session and moving files into the folder, these images should load.
If your camera is supported, be sure it is set to RAW only and that images are loaded directly into Capture One Session folder. Do Not use the Nikon software or images will not be readable.

It says D70, but does that include the D70s? As I said, I use this software all the time for canon raws, but I can't get the software to see the Nikon raws (.nef). The nef files are in the capture folder, I also have some jpgs from the Nikon in the same folder. C1 see the jpgs but not the nefs. The jpgs are not the same photos as the nefs they were shot separately.
I just tried making a folder and importing only nef files, but C1 still doesn't see them.
I import the images from a card reader directly into C1, no Nikon software used.

Hi,
D70s RAWs are not supported by Capture One yet. They will be in the maintenance release 3.7.1 coming out in the beginning of July.
