Does Phase One have enough information needed to bring back automatic hot pixel removal to 4.x if they choose to. Can someone from Phase One confirm.

I would have responded to a thread started about this in December where I provided much background information, but it appears all threads before Dec-19 are not available.

    Thanks-
    Al

Can someone from Phase One please confirm that phase one has all the information needed to bring back automatic hot pixel removal if Phase One plans to do this (as they should)

    I use Pentax raw files.

I know it produces some hot pixels.
On the normal view level I can see them, but when I zoom in further they disappear.

So hot pixel removal seems to be incorporated and working.

    This is good news.

I read others report (and Phase One confirm) that it had been removed. (This was in the pre-Dec-19th threads that have since been removed)

However I can not yet use and confirm for myself as 4.0 requires to be installed on a PC with internet connection. Hopefully this will be corrected in a future release as I eagerly await trying it.

Can anyone else confirm that auto hot pixel removal is now working in final 4.0 (it was not in 4.0 beta)

There is NO automatic hot pixel removal (*.CR2) removal in V4.

J.P. , just to confirm something (as I am not yet willing to install v4 until some issues are ironed-out)...

With v3.7.7 , the noise reduction slider has four notches, and I have observed that hot pixels are only removed when the slider is on notches 2 thru 4 (this also seems to affect demosaicing artifacts which only occur on the 1st notch).

With your example picture above, can you confirm that you have turned on noise reduction? If it's on the lowest setting then I am not sure whether your v4 observation is conclusive in itself. Thanks.

The image above was using the default noise reduction settings and unfortunately no amount of noise reduction slider fiddling will remove the hot pixel.

In the pre-Dec-19 thread Phase One representative confirmed that auto hot pixel removal had been taken out of 4.0 (beta-2). 4.0 final was released shortly afterward. I would be very surprised of PO so quickly added it back.

However all this speculation could be resolved if PO responded to this thread - also if the pre-Dec-19 thread was revived (can PO do this) it would help provide more background.
